Asterisk Summer School
Asterisk Summer School was an annual summer programme based in Tallinn centred around various forms and practices related to graphic design. The project ran from 2013 to 2016 and was set up by Elisabeth Klement and Laura Pappa.
The summer school lasted for ten days and was made up of four workshops with international and local tutors and participants from different fields and backgrounds. In addition to the workshops architectural field trips, talks and a number of extracurricular activities took place, including a good amount of swimming and barbecuing. Each summer school had a different focus, either in the form of a central theme, selection of tutors and/or structure. The general goal was to investigate new or potential tendencies within the practice of graphic design, as well as exploring the peripheries of the field. All this was investigated both indoors and outdoors, always in an informal summery setting.
